Finnair is currently facing industrial actions by the Finnish Aviation Union (IAU) in June 2025, leading to flight cancellations and potential delays at Helsinki Airport. These actions, impacting ground operations such as customer service, baggage handling, and maintenance, are scheduled for June 11, 17, and 19. Finnair is proactively re-routing affected customers and advising travelers to check flight status.
Despite these challenges, Finnair continues to expand its network. The airline has secured a tentative labor agreement with its pilot union after prolonged negotiations, signaling stability in pilot relations. Additionally, Finnair has resumed flights to Canada for the first time in over a decade, with a new service to Toronto. The airline also reported a 3.2% increase in passengers carried in May 2025 and plans to increase overall capacity by approximately 10% in 2025, with a focus on North Atlantic traffic.
